I painted this on the south shore of Nova Scotia in a tiny fishing community named, you guessed it, Blue Rocks. The granite of the shore is burnished smooth by the pounding of the Atlantic. It was a few days after a hurricane and there were some delightful waves coming in but I could not paint anything other than the amazing light breaking through clouds and gleaming off the channel that runs between the rocky island and the shore.
