I started this painting on the shore, with the waves curling onto the sand just a couple of yards from my bare feet. I was painting during the Forgotten Coast en Plein Air event. It was almost the last day and I had been pulled to the shore by the combination of sunshine and enough wind to bring up some attractive waves. I saw dolphins in the water not too far offshore which is always a treat, no matter how many times may happen.
As happens in a busy event like this one, I had to leave the beach before I finished my painting. I was due to go to the Wet Room Gallery where the paintings from the event were on display so I packed it up and took it to the gallery and finished it there from memory and experience.
