The Green and Gold of Spring

This painting shows just the top of the waterfalls at Girvan's Brook outside of Berwick, NS. Poppy Balser says about this painting

"I went to the waterfall to paint.  I ended up with a decent value study but ran out of time to paint the scene in colour.  When I got home to the studio, I realized part of my difficulty was that I was trying to paint too large a subject on too small a piece of paper.  So I designed this painting about what had most caught my eye: the golden glow of spring sunlight coming through the just-starting-to-leaf-out trees above the waterfall, casting a green and gold glow on the top of the waterfall."
