I painted this on location on World Watercolour Day, September 28, 2014. It was an absolutely gorgeous late summer afternoon. (Ok, technically it was fall, but the weather was beautiful. The bravest of us went swimming while I painted.) I wanted to paint the brightly backlit maple tree high lit against the shaded evergreens in the background, and the sparkle of the sunshine on the water.
