The weir in Sandy Cove was not built this year. The stakes from last year still stand, washed daily by the tides. If the fisherman decides to rebuild the weir next year, he will be able to use those stakes which remain after another winter of wind and ice.
I went to the beach with the kids earlier this summer and spent some time studying the weir. Even without netting, I still find its structure intriguing.
